Signaling New Project Activity
By Song, Friday, Jun 19, 2009 at 06:14pm in New FeaturesIn a recent update to the Soonr service, we incorporated new activity indicators in the Project views. You’ll see these blue circles whenever key activity has occurred.

A blue circle indicates recent activity. The number in the circle on the page tab shows how many activities have occured recently.
Now it’s simple to stay on top of all recent changes. A quick scan brings you up to date. Do you remember when your email used to be so simple?
Email used to be simple:
Somewhere along the way, a useful tool for collecting information becomes a bit harder to sift through. Email was fine for organizing your “ToDo” until there was so much that it tooks hours to sort through. Another metaphor was needed. Some people categorize their emails in different folders, some people color code or tag them. If you are like me, you try everything, still it was taking too long.
Enter Soonr’s Project Online Folders. Setting up a Project folder allowed you to keep related files from multiple people in one convenient online location that was always accessible by everyone in your workgroup. It was so useful that you started to create more Projects. Pretty soon, there were dozens of projects. Uh oh, now it takes more than an few moments to scan projects for additions and changes. That’s when the new project activity icon appeared. It really helps you prioritize.
This isn’t a totally new idea, you’ve seen it on the iPhone when a new email appears or appointment or SMS is waiting for you. It allows you to quickly pick out the items you need to check quickly to stay up to date. Soonr has taken a similar approach to online Project folders. It’s simple and effective.
